As you know I had three drawings in the art exhibition and I also had a pop up solo zine fair, with just me and one record stall. Thanks so much to the people who supported me on the day buying cards a few artists books and chatting about my work.
Thanks to Willie , Natalia and Caroline for organising a very unusual and challenging art happening in North West Ireland respect to all the artists who travelled from far to make it happen.

Deidres lovely handmade book

handmade book cover
antique silk
maker *deidres mother

last saturday at the market one of my favourite market stall holders Deidre from the vegetarian curry stall, kindly brought this stunning artical in to show me. She had been telling me about it,how her mother cleverly made a cover for one of her books with these ancient scraps of chinese embroidered silk. As Deidres father dealt in antiques , she may well have come across these pieces in the back of a frame or in amongst a mixed box of valuables .....but its what she did with them that I love.
Deidre herself is a fine textile artist and its only right that she has this beauty in her care , I look forward to seeing her work inspired by it.
As a bit of an alchemist myself, putting discarded ephemera to a new purpose,I love to see other re-purposed artefacts.
Do click on the images to make them larger and have a lovely weekend.

If anyone reading this is able to visit me at my stall in the foyer of the Dock Arts Centre , Carrick-on-Shannon,this sunday from noon onwards , I would love to see you !!
I will be selling my handmade artist books , zines and new range of cards (prints of many of my drawings)

I am sorry that I will not make the launch of the new book Gods and Monsters of Tommorow this friday as its impossible to get up to Dublin and miss my beloved market on saturday , good luck to Emma and Elida and I know the book will fly.

first saturday in october at the market stall (dream world)

I love these 1950's book covers, keeping the laurie lee but the rest are for sale !

alchemy cardigan handmade from other pieces by me
wool beret trimmed in vintage buttons
handpainted tea cups 1950's

as I have mentioned many times here , I have a market stall every saturday from march until christmas.
I then take a break from the market  to rest and reflect and make lots of new drawings (I hope)
I love my market stall so much , it has given me confidence in all that I do , and is a reflection of my development this last 20 years that I have had the stall.
Importantly it balances out all the introspective work I do in my studio on my own all the time.
I cannot believe that I have been there that long , it just feels new all the time.
Mostly I sell a mix of upcycled clothes ,vintage clothes, hats that I make, interesting bric a brac and cards of my drawings and a few artists books , if I have them made.
I get to talk with people who are attracted to the atmostphere my work creates and that is always a pleasure. On Saturday a woman from Berlin , who bought a hat said it was a dreamworld I had , and that is what it is ...my dream world. Thank you to all the people who support me everyday with my work as an artist , in whatever form that takes.
Thank you and thank you again.

Just  a tiny glimpse of what I am looking at , doing and stuff .....
Mostly I am avoiding much inside work as I know soon this magical light will  be different . I adore winter too , in a different more internal way , but I am not ready for it yet. I have been out cycling a lot and just looking at the sky .Feeling very dreamy ,bit like Merrylegs in the above image (also very spinny and distracted)
